As some of you may know these past few weeks have been the last for my Great Grandmother. She lived her 97 years the way she wanted and I'm glad she was with loved ones in her final days. I never was able to spend a ton of time with her over the years but what I did spend was memorable. Even in her older age she was 'alive', I think that is the best way I can put it. When visiting she would not allow you to lift a finger and it was as if she were young again. Her eyes lit up, she talked about her past (she had LOTS of stories) and she loved animals to an extent that I have never seen before. She even received chips from the humane society for 50 years of support! She was forever the entertainer and a couple years ago broke out an old ukulele and played for her visitors. She lived long and enjoyed life. I can only hope I am so lucky.
My mother's take.

Rex,
Just read your Mom's website. I left a comment there. Your Great Grandmother sounds like a very special lady. Cherish the memories.
