Hodgepodge
Been a while since my last update and there is lots to write about. Where to begin?
Biking:
Still biking to work and I think it is growing on me. I've found a pretty good path to work that takes me through some beautiful areas and I see everything from cows to horses on my way to work. The path then cuts across the VA Tech campus where I watch students cross campus heading to their 8am classes. I also just received my new bike (Trek 4900) in the mail and put it together. I did not ride it this morning as I was catching dinner with some friends. I have it pretty well loaded (read rack, front fender, etc.) and ready for commuting.
Yesterday I took my older bike on the bus. The busses here have a bike rack on the front of them that you pull down and place your bike in. So yesterday I did that on the way home. The bus was loaded with students and I get off of the bus and remove my bike. I start to walk away and the bus driver honks the horn. I smile and wave him on, but he honks again. Yeah, I forgot to put the bike rack back up. Feeling the fool I put it back into place and sent the 50-60 students on their way :)
Bed:
So we just received a new bed. It is a memory foam mattress that is supposed to take a week to break in. It is king sized due to the fact that our honeymoon bed was king sized and it allows us plenty of room to sleep while not interfering with the other's sleep. 2 nights in and I'd recommend it.
Other things is that I've cleaned off the back porch and thrown all of the brush into the street. Only I did this a month early. You see every month we get this neighborhood newsletter and the most recent one I received said (so I thought) this past Monday was brush cleaning day and the town would come around and clean up. Well, it turns out it is the third week in October. Luckily for me I was saved because the mowing people happened to come on Tuesday and dragged it off for me. If not then I was going to have to find a truck to haul it all off.
In life right now Erin and I are enjoying each other's company and deciding what all we want to dive into. I have some ideas for myself and she has some too. Just how to start them is the next step for us. I feel at a good place right now and am enjoying things. I am looking to maybe alter my sleep schedule a bit and have been studying sleep cycles. Could be good, could be bad. I'll keep you updated :)

Dreams
So I've had a few strange dreams lately. Good luck trying to figure them out. But I'll start with a dream a friend of mine had...
last night I had the weirdest dream on the face of the earth and I don't normally remember them.. but you were in it..and here's the thing... there was this photo spread in parenting magazine you were in there... and there was a whole like 6 page interview with you and what it means to be a dad... then I was talking to you.. (I don't know.. it flashed to where we were face to face) and you had grown out all your hair and you looked like a Taliban fighter.. (haha.. no joke!) and I said.. "hey I saw you in the parenting magazine" and you were like, "yes that was me then... but as you can see I've changed a lot"... and I was like, "yeah I see".. and then you said, "jihad!" and I woke up!
And now a quick reply about my dream:
That is one of the strangest dreams I have ever heard! Thanks for sharing, it made me laugh. Of course my dream last night of not being able to move a large rectangular white couch (that was standing on its side) out of a maze like all white living room until my father (not in real life) decided that the resistance had started was a pretty strange dream too...
quick note.. I wasn't going to tell you this but I was like--- why not...

Biking Photo!
| From 09-07-06 Biki... |
So here I am getting ready to ride to work. Helmet, check. Bike, check. Bookbag, check. The ride was pretty nice as I now have another route that I am taking. This new route takes me through the heart of the Virginia Tech campus and is a little more scenic. Also stopped by the local bike store to check out "Commuter Bikes". They are a hybrid between a road bike and a mountain bike. I'm thinking of getting one sometime soon. Maybe I will if I make it through the month...
Here is a shot of the gazebo at the Virginia Tech Duckpond I took along one of my rides.

My heart!
Lots to update.
First, my bike ride this morning. It nearly killed me. Well, not really, but it was not easy. I may wear my hear rate monitor tomorrow just to see what was going on with me. This came on the heels of the second morning of hitting the gym. As promised Erin and I are now heading to the gym in the morning. The original plan was to get to the gym around 5:45am and in just a day that changed to 5:15am. So it looks like mornings at the gym. I realize the first 2 weeks will be tough, getting used to the new schedule, but in the long run it should be worth it.
This past weekend's trip to the beach was great. 18 of us headed out to VA Beach with most of the group running the Rock n Roll half-marathon. Here are some pictures. A good weekend with good friends, looks like it will become an annual thing :) The next trip falls on Oct. 7th when both Erin & I will be making a trip to the University of Delaware to play in an annual flag football tournament!
I'll have to post some biking pics later...
