So lately I have been thinking a lot about what the church should be doing. One of those things is to clothe the naked, feed the poor and set captives free. I have journaled about it, been convicted about it and this week found an article in Times magazine about how to help the millions who die every year because they don't have enough to eat and are too poor to buy anything. Let me not kid myself, I am in debt, but I am wealthy. I have clothes, all the food I want, a nice place, I could go on and on. The reason the plight of the poor has so often unaffected me is because I don't see it day in and day out. At least now I don't. I have always had a heart for this segment of the world and I think between the internet, Christ's teachings, magazine articles and spending some time reading about the human condition as seen by Ralph Waldo Emerson that things may be coming to some conclusion. How will that effect me, you'll have to stay tuned.
