Scooters & Square Dancing

A scooter, that's what I am thinking of buying. Sound odd? Maybe, but that is unlikely if you know me. Of course it would not happen for some time and I'd need to see if it would be reasonable in the long term to only have one car between Erin and myself. I still have some thinking to do but there are a few upsides to it: 1. No car insurance 2. 60-80 mpg on gas 3. No car payments 4. Environmentally friendly. Right now much of my driving is spent around town and the only real out of town driving that I do is to Salem and Christiansburg. And if the weather is bad I ride the bus. Sort of an urban transportation plan in a small town.

This past weekend was a flurry of activity as well. Curt had a Birthday and we got him a St. Patrick's day cake. Saturday held a meeting with the wedding coordinator, registering for gifts at Target with a handheld scanner (I thought of it as a laser gun, made the process more exciting) and went to a picnic and later a banquet for Phi Sigma Pi's Alumni weekend. The biggest surprise of the weekend was having an award named after me. It is the "Rexford Joey Card - Exemplary Local Alumni" Award. It caught me off guard and was an honor I'll treasure forever.

This week things seem to be settling down. I have a short things to do list and think I'll spend some time reading and relaxing! I need to recover from last night's 'Square Dancing'. Visited Erin's grandfather last night in Roanoke, where he is a Square Dance Caller. He went through what he planned on calling at the reception and it's going to be a lot of fun. I even got to tell a joke in front of everyone and am still trying to measure whether there was more laughing or more groaning...

Well, time for 80's Tuesday!

Why not I bike rather than a scooter - even greener than a scooter, plus you get to burn off more of that excess energy that you seem to have in such abundance

If you can solve this riddle I'll bike: "How do I get to work not covered in sweat?"

Bike at a slow relaxed pace OR shower and change at work OR make you co-workers suffer

Only ride the bike when it rains. That way you get a shower and arrive with no sweat.

I used to ride my bike to work once where there was no shower. If you are not really pushing it and slow down at the end it just before you get there it really is no sweat.

Then slap on a litte deoderant to kill what little smell there is.

I believe the riddle is unsolvable - which is why I only bike for recreation/sport - not as a method of getting from A to B :)

Oh wait, I got it. Take a pack of baby wipes or something and when you get there go into the bathroom and clean yourself off. Plus they smell nice.

I would probably go with the Groaning until they had time to think about it

Answer to Riddle, Ride only in weather between 40 and 55. Ride only down hill. This way when you ride home you can sweat and take a shower!!! Groan

I totally support the scooter. I want one too. But in TX, it's as impractical as a bike. And I'm with your dad on the riddle; just buy a house uphill from your work.
