On the Brink...

of my late 20's. If you know me and have spent countless hours of your life in conversation with me you will know a few things. A few of these things include that I like 80's music, enjoy running, love to play Ultimate frisbee, enjoy digital photography, blah, blah, blah. <- Had to cut it off before it started sounding like a personal ad.

Another thing you will have learned (that would not be in a personal ad) is that ever since I was 12 years old I have been excited about my late 20's. Why? I'm not sure, I have just always believed that they would be the best years of my life. So on and off throughout my years I have been excited about why I am excited about my late 20's. Well today I am on the brink of turning 27!!! First off it is hard to believe I am 27, one of the reasons is because when I was younger, 27 seemed old and I feel anything but ;) The other reason is that people keep asking me if I go to Virginia Tech, a school I was originally set to graduate from in the Spring of 2000 (assuming a 4 year trip). So basically, given old convention I could have my PHD by now, if I had chosen to go through school without stopping. But it likely would have killed me. Ahhh, the curse of looking young :) Not really, I like it and thank my parents for their genes.

So what do I expect out of my late 20's? Not sure. But here is some exciting news, this very morning I received a promotion. I am now a Senior Level Web Application Developer, coincidence that it falls a day before my late 20's??? All in all life is good, I'm learning plenty and am surrounded by good friends in a great location. How did I get so lucky?

Anticipating my late 20's...

Happy B'day! You're a cube now, you know :-)

And congrats on a well-deserved promotion. You're in charge of what, 4 projects?

Congrats on the promotion and on entering your late 20's! The promotion is much deserved. I hope your late 20's are everything that you've imagined.

As for looking and feeling young - I can definitely relate! But the reason folks ask if you are a student at Tech may have less to do with your youthful appearance than the fact that so many slackers at that school are on the 7+ year plan :) Not that I blame them - if I had gone to Tech I might have been on that plan too. My college only gave you 4 years to finish - and at their prices, that's all you could afford anyway.

congrats on the promotion.

as for the birthday, hopefully we can do some celebrating this coming weekend and i can sit at your feet as you tell stories of what it was like growing up back in the day, and if the (first week of your) late 20s really are everything it's cracked up to be.
