A quote I have been thinking on a lot lately is this:
"We do not see things as they are.
We see things as we are."
It has forced me to look at the way I see (or perceive) the world around me. And the effect of the concept of 'truth' on this whole process. I think I am starting to formulate my thoughts for my first essay, but it is too early to tell at this point and I'm sure it will be a pretty rough piece to ready. But I have to start somewhere, right?
In other news, I have been pretty good at staying off of my knee, so that it will heal. A repetitive use injury is pretty hard to get used to and I will likely be resting until this Thursday. After that it is back to training for the Country Music Marathon in Nashville, TN.
Taxes are also still on going. Apparently I know how to cause problems for the tax preparer. I have spent 1.5 hours Sat, .5 hour on the phone Monday and 1 hour sitting & talking on Monday with the folks at H&R block. It makes me feel better that I am having someone do it and that they are having some trouble. The woman working on them yesterday has been working 'Real Estate' taxes for 8 years and labeled my situation 'unique'. It goes to show that I was not off base when I thought they might be too complicated for me! Truth be told, I could figure it all out myself, but it would take time I would rather not use. Life it too good to be spending 8 hours doing taxes and calling the IRS. If they were a little simpler, I would have no problem knocking them out myself. And I also know that whatever the outcome is I will need to use the knowledge gained to amend last years tax return! Glad tax time only comes once per year, and that is the 'truth' :)
