Chattanooga!

So this past weekend I took a trip to Chattanooga, TN. I had been there twice before but had never been able to see much. The two previous visits were with the Virginia Tech Crew team, so I saw a lot of sleeping in churches and the Tennessee River. The reasons for going were to visit Kim (Erin's older sister), Eric (Kim's husband) and the boys (Collin & Jack). The other reason was to watch Brandy walk across the stage with her doctorate!

Seven years of school is a lot of work! And congrats to her for landing a job right out of school that she is excited about!

Overall the weekend was great. Road tripping is one of my favorite things and being able to travel with Erin great. Seeing things and sharing the travel experience is something I had always hoped for in a future wife. We arrived in Chattanooga late Friday night and I was greeted by a growling dog. The dog actually looked like white fang. But after a few minutes the pup warmed up and I was able to get my things inside :) In all there were 2 dogs and over the course of the weekend they took to me and if I had dogs I'd want them to look like white fang as well.

Erin giving Jack the "High 10!"

The next day was a day of soccer and baseball with the boys. They had games in the morning and in the evening. They are great. There is just something about kids that I love. Collin and I talked Dinosaurs, Sharks and even drew a picture of sea monsters! Jack and I played "let's jump on Rex's Rib Cage leading with the knees" one morning. Luckily for me he weights next to nothing, so no injuries to report. We also all build a house out of legos. It was a normal, runt of the mill house until Jack got a hold of some lego propellers and made it a flying house. And for some reason I saw that thing everywhere I went for the rest of the weekend. Kids do the strangest things, I can't wait to have some of my own one day. I am sure hilarity will ensue.

Collin is a baseball stud.

The time to relax in the evening and breakfast the next morning was good. It was nice to be able to sit down and talk with Kim and Eric without running all around and trying to squeeze lots of activities into a weekend. I like to do a lot of things, sitting around and talking is one of my favorites. The rest of Sunday was spent shopping on Frazier street, there are all sorts of eclectic shops there. We then headed to Brandy's graduation, met up with her family, cheered and took some pictures. After leaving the arena where graduation was held we drove through downtown and then headed back to Virginia.

All in all a good trip. And I'm excited that soon I will have official nephews! Does that mean I get to help spoil them?

No, you're the uncle. Take it from me, I married into a nephew myself: you don't spoil, you corrupt. That's the uncle job.

I agree with the cachinnator.

Sounds like a great trip. Did you get to see the downtown area. I really like Chattanooga and will be heading back. It is very family friendly. Wanna join me?
